Philosophy
The parents and staff of Rendelsham Kindergarten believe that the time a child spends at kindergarten should be a wonderful happy time in which children learn to
- Have fun
- Feel secure and build trust in themselves and others
- Gain an enjoyment and zest for learning and living that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives
- Gains independence – a sense of responsibility and above all, a healthy and strong self esteem
We believe children need opportunities to develop their learning with
- Confidence
- Curiosity
- Creativity
- Problem solving abilities
- Co-ordination (both gross and fine)
- Understanding of and respect of
others
- Motivation to give things a try and persistence to carry
things through
- Ability to resolve conflict in a constructive way
To do this we must provide children and families with a warm, caring environment that encourages a sense of belonging and promotes learning through
- Sharing and caring
- Social contact
- Understanding of others
- Opportunities to take risks and make mistakes without ridicule
- Challenges, exciting and stimulating experiences that make children
think, question, explore and discover
- Opportunities to develop a love
of learning; of books, music, language and their world
- Experiences
that acknowledge our children's special needs and talents and extends
and helps them grow
- Opportunities for children to develop self
control, to co-operate with others and to make friends
- Opportunities
to be active and time to be reflective
- Acceptance and encouragement of children's creative efforts, persistence and independence in doing things for themselves
Above all we acknowledge children as unique individuals who deserve to be valued in their own right and given opportunities to help them develop into happy individuals
